Make-up artist stabbed and slashed to death

By FARIK ZOLKEPLI ( the star, monday, 31st july 2006 )

JOHOR BARU: A mak andam (make-up artist for weddings) was found murdered in his shop here with multiple stab and slash wounds.

The body of Indra Shahril Mohd Salleh was discovered after passers-by spotted patches of blood on the glass door and floor of his shop at Jalan Dahlia 10 in Taman Dahlia here at around 6.15pm on Saturday.

Johor Baru (South) CID chief Deputy Supt Md Nazri Zawawi said police arrived at the crime scene at 6.30pm after being alerted.

“We discovered the body lying face down with at least 10 stab wounds on his back and a slash mark on the nape of his neck,” he said.

Police, he added, believed the murder was committed at about 3am.

According to DSP Nazri, initial investigations suggest that the 32-year-old victim was attacked by more than one person and had even put up a fight, going by the defensive wounds found on his right arm.

Police also believe Indra Shahril might have known his assailants because there were no signs of forced entry.

“The victim’s Proton GEN-2 and wallet are missing, and police have not ruled out the possibility of robbery as a motive for the murder,” said DSP Nazri, adding that the body had been sent to Sultanah Aminah Hospital for a post-mortem.

Indra Shahril, who had been operating in the area for several years, had also helped planned events for singers and other celebrities.

Police did not find any murder weapon but believe the weapon used could be a knife.

Anyone who comes across the victim’s light green Gen-2, with the JHY 7611 registration number, or has information on the case should contact the Johor Baru (South) district police headquarters at 07-223 2222 or the nearest police station.
